I tested "Just dance 2020" and "Just dance Unlimited Party" with two loaders (usb loader gx version1271) and (Configurable loader v70):

Just dance 2020 ==> configurable loader v70 ==> cios 250 base 57, starts immediately, without adjustment ==> starts

and i found the only thing i didnt tried, using ntfs hard disk and gladly it worked.. BUT only in CFGUL.
i use only wiiflow and i dont want to use cfg just for 3 games (besides the fact that i have the other hdd in fat32). so i wuold really love some help to figure out what can solve this problem (as many other people i think).

fun fact: a person who i was talking to in jd2020plus discord said that did my same process and he can run them on a fat32 flash usb and many other people seems to not have any problem after installing hermes cios, but without knowing their hardware/software mods is difficult to get out much from that.

so i managed to run them with:
-installing hermes cios222 with base38 (version seems to be irrelevant i used 5.1, but i may be wrong, devs didnt say it)
-setting as CFGUL and USBLGX game options: game load on ios 222, game's default mode (ntsc), english language.
-moving the file to the NTFS HDD with WiiBackupManager b78.

but they still dont work on wiiflow resulting in a black screen.
using a fat32 the result is the same except for CFGUL, in which shows this "strange" message on loading:
"error: setting fragments 0 3, id discordant: [S2PE41] [], error: setwbfs: -3"

looking at this Cyan's post:

i think it can be maybe something related to the CFGUL id error but since to make it work i "simply" changed hdd's file system.. idk what to believe anymore XD

please tell me if you need more info or details, i made most of the relevant checks like wbfs if read only, wbfs verified with sha1 on wbm ecc. things that, seen the results, seems to not have much relevance now.

You say it correctly,these modded Games are very special and very hard to get them workring.
We have "discovered" it maybe has to do with File System and/or the USB Device which is used.
The cIOS we should use is,as said,an Hermes with Base 38

For me this Setup works on the PAL Wii:
IOS222[38] (rev 4, Info: hermes-v4): Trucha Bug, ES Identify, NAND Access, USB 2.0
IOS223[38+37] (rev 4, Info: hermes-v4): Trucha Bug, ES Identify, NAND Access, USB 2.0

And it also it does not work on every USB Device I have tried.
Also the Video Mode force to NTSC is needed on the PAL Wii.
And to disable the Save to SD Card Option too.

Unfortunately,I do not think we can suggest an "universal" Setup,it will not work for all Users.
Also thank you for the WiiFlow and Configurable USBLoader Testing,honestly,I only was focused on the USBLoader GX.

Yeah it seems the same case as mine, but i tried only two different hdd (1tb fat32-ntfs) so i could do some more test, and if you have things you want me to try out just say it.

tbh i messed up a bit xd, my settings were ios222, game's video mode (ntsc), english forced. i corrected the post.

yeah i surely think not, but if we can found most of the combination that make it possible to run, well it's a big step forward.
oh and maybe more important making a list/table with confirmed not working configs. & working configs.

now i planned to try: wiiflow & usbgx with same settings, different hdd/flash with fat/ntfs and maybe some advanced test on the game files like Cyan said here:

That mod is probably not done correctly?
Did you try another loader? try with wiiflow to see if it's an issue with how USBGX handle modded games with edited TitleIDs.
I still think the problem is the internal (game header) titleID mismatching with the titleID used by the loader. maybe the titleID is located at different place in the iso, not only the header. No idea how that mod was created, but baybe using WWT to re-write the TitleID could fix it properly?

and i think we should focus on these testings:

I'm thinking the error is either :
1. You used a bad dump as base for the patch
or
2. the patch is done wrong, and doesn't properly edit the internal titleID

but, if you have the original disc, you could compare both game's headers?
compare the two wbfs (because wbfs has an header too).
or convert both back to iso first.

Oh, one thing we didn't try :
Use "Generic Wii Patcher" to patch out the Error #001 from the iso.
I still have that tool.
even though the fix #001 and #002 are not "proper" fixes, and USBGX depatch these and re-patch properly.

it was often a problem with modchips wich allowed reading past the game size, so I think you are correct that it's about the game size here.
maybe the modder didn't properly changed the game size info, it's maybe still "seen" as a single layer game, but with more than 4.7GB?

analyzing the iso with wit or DiscCheck.exe (from mark above), could help understand what's wrong.
I never modded a game, so I don't know what it requires, but if error1 is about accessed data past the disc size, it means the disc size should be mentionned somewhere for the console to check first.
so, the "disc size" info is probably not matching the real file size of the mod and the game ask for a file past the "max disc size" info.

maybe extracting the partitions to FST (file system) and repacking the files into a new partition and making a proper iso with wit would help?

someone played (unlimited party, not 2020, but hey same problem) on vWii, which means no Hermes 38 required!

nope, the user dont know which versione of jdup he used, but he said he took one from 2018, and the v2.5, the first that require hermes' cios, came out as oct. 2019 (as you can see here: youtu.be/AakvX9PhpPs) so yeah no hermes required, for jdup's versions older than v2.5

I think because of this Size the Split into 2 WBFS Files on FAT32 works not correct.

maybe its something related, but as i said someone managed to do it..

sorry for all the conflicting possible causes I suggested, I forgot what error#1 was about.
once I searched properly, I found it's about the game or image size overflowing compared to the declared disc size to the console.
the mod is probably larger than 4.7Gbit, while the disc is still said to be single layered to the console ?

but this is really interesting to see that the first thing I thought about (before correcting myself) was the possible mismatch titleID, and CFG loader reports such issue !
USBGX should also report it, but logs are disabled by default. I don't know if it only report, or prevent boot.
But I don't see why using ntfs would bypass the problem.

the only thing I can tell, is I remember all this can be a problem with game launching and error screen:
- game data size overflowing declared Disc size, or modchip allowing access past disc size limit. (error #1)
- Mismatching titleID from the ISO header and the one set by the loader (forgot which error it creates)
- Mismatching requested IOS with loaded IOS (I also forgot which error it creates, but cIOS should take care of that now).
one of the last two is probably error#2. the tool I mentioned (wii generic patcher) had a bad "error 2 fix" script, it worked on old mods only, USBGX is automatically de-patching these (previously it was an option called "anti fix 002" it's now forced on all games) and properly repatching them automatically. I don't know about other loader's method to fix that error#2 wrong patches.


trying wii generic patcher to fix error#001 is an idea.
with usbgx:
extract the dol of the game (wiixplorer, or wiiscrubber, or truchasigner, or wit, etc.)
patch the dol
put the patched dol on SD (in expected folder, look at user's path setting for altdols) named <titleID>.dol
go to game settings, alt dol : select from file

or like the other idea I provided :
if it's a ISO size issue, repack the iso with wiimm's tools.

if it's a TitleID issue, check the iso with wiimm's tools and look for any issue you can spot (titleID, size, etc.)

all of these are, according to cfg, double-layer.
only JDPLUS has the update partition in the game image.

trying wii generic patcher to fix error#001 is an idea.

done, kinda: wii generic pathcer when i search for error 001 (i tried all the 3 JD) says:
"Search pattern for "Error 001" protection not found"
so i think it does not need a patch or maybe it's another error, i never heard about this tool (ofc, im "new" to wii modding xd)

i can try to analyze the original JD2019-20 games, if it helps, but they are PAL, these mods are based on NTSC.

Repack involves extracting all files from the game partition into a folder, and re-creating a new partition from scratch from these files to "fix" the partition size, Header's game ID, etc.

but all 3 games are all properly matching.

From the quick look I did of all your logs, everything seems fine to me.
I might have miss things, as I did only a quick look, but all iso and partitions are "ok" and all titleID and size are good. no overflowing. I don't know why there is error#1 then.
I didn't find where the disc is set as single or dual layer, maybe it's done on the console by loaders based on game data size?

it probably wasn't changed, which means just dance officially use 56, why would modded songs doesn't work with that IOS too? why need hermes? why another base?

that's an interesting point. the only cause i can think about (for my little experience) is that the method/software used to modify/repack/extract the game use some strange maneuvers to do their job, but this should be talked with developers. that would explain why JDUP before v2.5 works with ios56-57 and the v2.5 not, i dont think that's casual. anyways wiiflow still show black screen while usb gx and cfg are working (only on ntfs in my case) so there could be other things that cause problems.

why for example "the hip hop dance experience", a jd spin-off game that is 7,5gb can load on ios 56-57based without any problem?
what is the difference that the ios can notice between these games?

Neogamma is a bit overwhelming (I'm not saying it's bad).

prefer usb loader gx, or Configurable loader v70 or Wiiflow for games on USB.

what is the version of your loader ??
On what usb support do you play your games (usb key, hard drive) ??
