If I had to guess, I would say it's because sorg admitted he used GPL code (changed his story later on, pretty obvious that was a lie) but still refused to provide source. On the other hand the author of MMM claims his app is legal because all GPL code has been replaced (despite contrary evidence).

Yes, if I recall correct, you have proved that MMM contains traces of GPL code by dissassembling it.

Another example of GPL violation is "Homebrew Filter". It uses at least libWiiGUI and libntfs and the source is nowhere to be found. Yet download links to it are allowed hereat gbatemp. Speaking of moderatos knowing their job.

Okay, so what's the deal with Sorg and the Uniiloader app? I know the app isn't supported in this forum but I'm not exactly sure why. I've just picked up bits and pieces of the story, what did he do, use code that belonged to someone else?

Sorry if this strikes a nerve with some of the fellow app developers (I appreciate all of your efforts) but why hasn't anyone been able to duplicate what Sorg did (emunand w/wbfs ntfs support)? Is it because one would have to break the rules in order to create the same option or is it because Sorg knows something that everyone else doesn't? Again, I'm not pro Sorg or anything, I'm just curious to know what the deal is.

the big stink about the loader being on here was the fact that someone(for got who)
asked sorg for the source and he said it wasnt GPL so he didnt have to show the source and
all [email protected] broke loose after that

this was just after i modded my first wii
anyway sorg wouldnt give up the source == no source no link on this site

I read Sorgs post on wii hacks about his emu-nand the night before it was deleted but I clearly remember him arguing and his statements of stealing over peoples code and etc. The way Sorg put it was he used other people codes to make his emu-nand the way it is and with a lot of controversy (him being accused of stealing) I think was because he didn't want to release the source he then explained who's code he used and in a sense yes he stole it.

This is all I read, so he may have been a good dev but I don't see whats wrong about using other peoples code if it's not a direct copy of it; but then again I don't know anything about GPL aside from what people mention in the forums. Yes you can ask, stealing is wrong but at some point unity must come into place.

I had all the files DL and ready to use but the thread was deleted the next day
