Hacking EDGE DS Problems

Just got my EDGE in the mail today, loaded up the firmware on a microSD, popped it in, fired it up, nothing... My DS doesn't recognize it, as if nothing was in the unit. I've tried two microSD cards, a legit Kingston 2gb (Japan) and a Sandisk 4GB SDHC. Same issue both times. Any ideas to what I should do?

even without firmware the nintendo ds should find the card and give you error message,
if nothing happens probably the card is defective
