I don't know about pay as you go plans, but as long as you've got a sim card and the phone has the 1900 and/or the 850 mhz bands then you should be good to go.

And its probably not the same phone, but a design knockoff with different software. Not necessarily bad, ESPECIALLY if the phone you're ordering is java compatible, a plethora of apps from teh interwebs becomes available.
