Homebrew dvdx help and back up games

im kinda new to this and have the 3.3v upgrade on my wii, i no dvdx will not install with this update and i would have to downgrade, can downgrading break/damage/corrupt my wii?

Also is it possible to play backed up wii games (Legally) without my wii being modded?

Sorry if these have been asked recently or alot, ive had a look round but can seem to find anything, just post the link if they have and ill have a gander at them
