I've got a bit of a problem here. The last two games I've burned have not worked, and all I get is the "DVD Identify Failed" error in WiiGator's backup launcher. I'm not doing anything differently from how I normally burn games. Using the same program, same brand of DVD's, ect, and yet the games I burn don't want to work. Haven't installed anything new on my Wii either. Any idea of what could be causing this? The only thing I can think of is maybe my DVD burner is shot, but I don't want that to be the case as I can't afford a new one. Any ideas of anything I could try?

Well do you use your DVD burner for anything else besides burning Wii games?

Because if it burns other stuff properly then its not a hardware issue.

Nope, only use it for Wii games anymore.

hey this happened to me, i fixed it really easily

1) Uninstall any cIOS on your system
2) install cIOS rev 5 (the one that was included in the first leaked loader)
3) Install DVDX with advanced install, and choose IOS249

basically, uninstall and reinstall will fix it. it worked for me, i had 3 games working, burned another and got the dvd identity failed on wiigators loader, uninstalled and reinstalled, and all my games work!

You have to install the CIOS first as that puts IOS249 into your system.

From there you can use dvdx to install advanced option IOS249.

The Newest unreleased loader will no longer use DVDX to install / run. Its all implemented via the CIOS.

that sucks!

hmmm well, according to tchindes, the next loader shouldn't be using dvd x anyway, and by the looks of it in the backup loader thread its gonna be released tomorrow, so you should be good then.

but, i might know the problem ive heard the "PatchMii" cIOS doesnt work well with the loader. you havent installed that, have you?

Well, downloading new ones is kinda out of the question. If the last two games I've gotten haven't worked, more than likely anything I get from here on out won't work either. Plus I only have 3 blank DVD's left. Don't want to waste them if I know they're not going to work anyway.

I tried burning with both Maxell and Phillips DVD+R's with the booktype changed to DVD-ROM. Always worked before. I'm really starting to think that it's my DVD burner going bad or something. Only explanation I can think of.

But whatever. I'll wait for the new loader to come out, try them with that, and if they still don't work I'm just going to forget about it. Castlevania OoE and Ketsui Death Label are both coming out for the DS really soon, so they'll help me forget about my Wii problems. *lol*

If your burner supports dvd-r's , then try to get a hold of some sony's . They work for me anyways and another guy I've recommended them to . Or ritek dvd-r's even . If your burner only does dvd+r's then i'm not sure what else to say, may be a burner issue, I've been through quite a bit of dvd burners since I rely on them for work (tv industry).
