i got tired of waiting for DX to send me a replacement USB SPI Flasher for a defect one i got a while back with a RGH chip and made a LPT cable from some spare harvested diodes and resistors.
it works fine so far on a old PC i had with a fresh XP install, (still dumping an hour in) my main question is can i just dump the first 64 megs of the nand as i have read in some places or should i just wait the 9 hours it'll take to dump the nand each time?

If it's taking that long to dump your NAND, you should probably invest in getting that replacement of yours.. Also, you should dump everything, as there may be some bad blocks in the first 64 megs of the NAND, and the 360 would have remapped them to one of the spare blocks..

i honestly don't know how long it will take, and i'm patient enough to wait out however long it'll take to dump it twice if it is nessasary, i'll get a new usb nand dumper in the future but ATM money is to tight so i'm working with what i have at disposal.

Dude, it would take under half an hour to dump your NAND if you were using USB..

It will take over 24 hours just to dump the nand once

Yes you can dump the first 64 megs of the NAND.

HOWEVER this is incredibly slow on LPT, and since you have to dump it at least twice to compare NAND's, I'd suggest you wait untill you have your USB SPI flasher.

Agreed, except for the first bit... You're going to want to dump the full image, not just the first 64 megs. I guess it'd be fine if you didn't have any badblocks though.

With a USB SPI, yes then you'll want to dump the full 512.
Otherwise the first 64 is good enough.

Seen a lot of BB jaspers being dumped at 64 and they all turned out to be great jTAG's / RGH's
