Looks fine but why have the "1x 3.5mm to 3.5mm Audio Cable" from monitor to pc at all? why not just use monitor speaker for the wii tbh?

I figure the sound produced by the external speakers would be superior over the monitor's speakers as I also have a sub-woofer.
If for some reason the audio that my final setup produces is messed up in any way, that was my alternative- to just use the second monitor's internal speakers. The sound can't be too bad.

You're right to think that. Stock monitor speakers are generally some of the worst in existence.

Unfortunately Windows has some of the worst multi-monitor support of all major OSes. On your original question however, UltraMon will allow you to enable/disable your second monitor with a hotkey.

Figures.

Yeah, I had this really huge problem before where my ATI Catalyst driver software actually got corrupted and I had to re-install it.
Thanks for the tip; already have UltraMon and it does, as you said, have hotkeys to enable/disable!

Windows 7 has some degree of hotkey-switching built in with Win+P.

Sorry guys, looks like I'll need to revive this thread.

I got the monitor and it's working great- even the built-in speakers function pretty well.
However, I found an old 3.5mm to 3.5mm Stereo Cable and tried to plug one end into the earphone jack on the monitor (which cut the sound off, naturally) and the other into the Line In of the computer.

However, the outputted sound to my speakers is only from the computer, nothing from the Wii is outputted.

Since the sound is being cut off when I plug the cable in, I can assume that the monitor is fine.
And when I plug the cable into the Line In of my computer, my computer reads that too (the Realtek Audio Manager picks up it being plugged in).

What's going on? Thought the computer would mix the sound signals and output them together.

You appear to be creating a loopback type arrangement (the PC feeds the monitor which is then delivered into the line in port) and as such it is probably cutting out as a safety/nicety feature or the voltage levels are different between the devices (I get this when I try to run different devices without mixing them properly).

Easier way- buy a female phono to male 3.5mm cable/converter (or enough converters and cables to make it happen) before plugging the wii into that and then into the line in of your PC. Only downside is your PC will have to be on for it to function properly (although a simple unplug and swap will sort that on the occasions that happens).

Edit: might as well link something up http://www.amazon.com/RiteAV-3-5mm-Stereo-...mp;sr=1-2-fkmr0 ($2.84 and shipping is free).

Of course, I'd expect my PC to be on to use the speakers that are connected to it's line out.
Thanks for the help, FAST. Was hoping that it'd work with a simple 3.5 M/M, but apparently not. I'll try to get a hold of what you recommended!
