I'll cut to the chase. In the past, wii games worked fine booting off of an hdd, but more recently it started having two issues.

One, which came up more recently, whenever the HDD was plugged into the wii and power before boot, it would shut off everything. Not just the wii in general, everything. Lights, ability to boot, etc. This isnt causing my wii to fully die, as simply resetting the cord and unplugging the hdd fixes it.

Next, when I plug the hdd AFTER boot, the games detect, but anytime I try to run, I always get a DSL error. No matter what I do. Any help on either solution?

edit: forgot to mention it only shows up the games on wiiflow, usb loader gx doesnt detect the drive.

Syscheck looks good, how is the drive formatted? Try 100% fat32, if that doesn't work try 100% wbfs. If that doesn't work, try a different hard drive
The drive is formatted as FAT32. I also double checked the health of the hard drive, it appears healthy on my PC.

Could still be healthy and incompatible. Sometimes compatibility is improved when the drive is formatted as wbfs (use wii backup manager to do so). You forgo the benefits of a fat32 hdd, but if it works as wbfs then at least it can store wii games

Also double check that the drive is MBR and not GPT

That would not make sense. It worked completely fine, only now recently having these issues. I will try to reformat it as WBFS to see if it helps, and I can always get a separate drive for Gamecube games.

Update: After some more troubleshooting, I got Wii Backup Manager to work, as well as usb loader GX now working. Thank you very much!

Last update, which is gonna make some people mad. Believe it or not, the entire reason this was happening, wasn't because of the format. It wasn't because of the hard-drive. It was due to the fact, that even after being suggested a dual adapter, the power going into the hard drive directly from the wall was halting any boot. I believe it's safe to say that, I am quite pissed. Makes sense due to the power led and everything shutting off, but again I am just pissed.
