I own some DSiWare games on DSi XL. Some games like Alpha Bounce have pretty long loading times. It gets kind of annoying to wait 10 seconds every time a level loads, because you have to do it all the time.

Can I profit from transferring them to the 3DS, will the loading times be faster?

At least on DSi the DSiWare can only be started from internal memory. So I guess that won't work.

Well can't DSiWare be moved from SD card to SysNAND memory?

That's what I was saying...not only it can, it must be moved to internal memory.

The loading times from internal memory are really slow, best example is Alpha Bounce.

Hmm, interesting. I'm shocked, honestly. I assume there was no lag on the DSi? I haven't gone onto the eShop on my DSi since the 1.4.5 update, and now it's shut down, so I can't check anything out.

Hopefully a future update can speed up DSiWare loading times. ^w^

I have DSiware on my 3DS, and it's stored in the internal memory not the SD card. I haven't really noticed the boot times. I guess there's nothing that you can do if you feel the boot times are slow, ---> DEAL WITH IT <---

I wonder, did you get the point of my question? I own DSi and 3DS, so if the transfer to 3DS would make DSi games run faster, I'd do it.
But I would like to get confirmation first.

Can you compare to DSi, or do you only own the 3DS?

I have both but not the game.
Never noticed a difference. If anything the 3DS will be slower due to having to boot in DSi mode and fetch the data from internal memory.

I am pretty sure the DSi will see no more updates, 1.4.5 is what we have to live with :x
But the eShop works, it was not shut down for good. The internet services were cancelled tho, online play and so on.

I own (2) DSi and (3) 3DS. I don't see why keep your DSiware installed to the DSi when you can transfer it to a 3DS. I transferred my DSiware when the tool was first released. I didn't take note of loading times as that kind of thing don't matter to me. Why is a loading time seem to bother some people, there is nothing you can do about it, so there is no reason to worry about it. I doubt it will load slower on a 3DS, if anything you'd think it would load faster. Just a note, the tool wouldn't transfer all my DSiware to my 3DS.

If it's 10s then it's OK but keep in mind that some games take over a min or something.

I have the Zelda Four Swords installed to both my DSi and 3DS, I can test the different loading times but need to find my DSi first, which may take a while, I'll post back when I find my DSi.

Ok let me explain in more detail. It is the game Alpha Bounce I am annoyed with. I just didn't want to limit the discussion about loading time to this game only, as people might have noticed a difference for other games also.

Alpha Bounce is a pretty simple game. Every level consists of a static screen, because basically it is a Breakout clone.
There are literally thousands and thousands of levels to play, of which you have to play a big amount, to beat the game.

It is not the loading time once, before the game starts, that is annoying. It is the 10 sec loading time before each and every level. Which you constantly have to do.

That would be great if you could test it.

Well, I have Zelda Four Swords on my 3DS and it takes as long to load that game as it takes to load NSMB2 from a retail cart, which is about 10 seconds. My 3DS is 4.1 firmware so there may have been an update to speed things up.

Yes, to use the tool both systems need to be updated.

I just tried the following:

-deleted all my DSiWare games from the internal memory and only copied back Alpha Bounce. -No speed improvement
-restarted and played while charger was plugged in - No speed improvement

Now there is only waiting for actual comparison tests between DSi and 3DS.
My hope is, despite the 3DS loading in DSi mode, the first startup might be slower, but the in-game load times might improve due to higher speed and/or faster internal memory of the 3DS.

The Games are both the same speed on both Systems, the 3DS does not speed up loading times of DSiWare Games. If you start an DSiWare game on the 3DS, the 3DS will load the TWL_FIRM (DSi Firmware Module) and decreases the speed of the 3DS CPU and memory to match the speed of the DSi CPU and memory. So you have no speed up in the Loading times.
