Gaming DSi XL Scratched Top Screen, Need Help.

Hi, I'm trying replace the clear plastic screen that protects the top DSi XL lcd screen. The lcd is fine the the plastic covering it is scratched. I found this link to fixit that shows me how ( http://www.ifixit.com/Guide/Nintendo+DSi+XL+Upper+Screen+Replacement/3570 ) and a link to the part that is cheap compared to replacing a lcd screen. but it's out of stock. Tried ebay but I can only find lcd screen, not the one cheap part I need. Any help would be great. (http://www.ifixit.com/Store/Game-Console/Nintendo-DSi-XL-Upper-Screen/IF211-003 )

Can you just take the covering off and play without it?

Is it severely scratched? Have you tried using buffering paste before choosing to replace the panel? If the scratches aren't too deep, you'll probably be able to get rid of them without having to replace it - you might save yourself a couple bucks and a lot of trouble.

Thanks for the replies. The scratches are not bad when I'm playing. I wouldn't mind trying to play for cheap since I can't find just the plastic part I need. Where and what kind of buffering paste should I get.

you can always buy a sheet of plastic and just cut it out with a razor.
