So as I have seen, none of the flashcarts (except the sosme as Itouch dsi, Acekard 2i etc) work with the DSi.... I think that those flashcarts can't work on the DSi because of the system's complexity and pircay protection.... What is different between the DSi flashcart woth the regular ones? Is there any possible way (for regular flashcarts) that there will be a firmware update or any hack that would bypass the dsi's protection? Is the dsi's falshcart chipset (whatever it is called lol) different???? That's all....

The DSi enabling aspect of the newer flashcards is a hardware feature, not a software one, so a firmware update won't give your card DSi compatability. Oh to the noes, you have to spend a giant whopping sum of $18 again if you want to be able to pirate hundreds of dollars worth of games again.

As far as I know the DSi checks the carts header, each flashcart had it's own header so all the DSi's firmware had to do was check it against a block list. The DSi carts use a faked header from a real game so the DSi thinks it's a commercial cart.

I could understand it wrong though.

amazing!!! *preparing the credit card for purchase*
Sorry is I seem Like an ass but whats with the bitchy:you have to spend a giant whopping sum of $18???

Sorry, I guess the absoluteness of your "none of the flashcards" except for you know, a couple, support the DSi. You just seemed to be a bit overly dramatic about how much a hindrance not having a software update was causing you for a console which isn't even out yet outside of Japan. I apologize, I shouldn't have been so bitchy.

*Looks up* Holy crap, resolution in an internet drama

That might be a first...

Just out of personal curiosity... if the flashcarts use a real header, and overall a hardware feature that mimics a real cart identically, there won't be any way to block DSi flashcarts through fw upgrades right?

As a copyright note, flashcarts can be argued to be perfectly legal because they only run what the user puts on them, just like CDs are. If these DSi flashcarts are COPYING a real game's header they may be the very first flashcarts that actually DO violate copyright.

I don't think it's an exact copy of the header, just the parts that are needed to bypass the DSi protection. I could be wrong though.

Actually, some flashcarts include almost an entire game, including textures, sounds etc.

they can but then they have to start blocking real games instead of just flashcarts and people wont be happy about that.

How dare a company attempt to protect their assets and prevent piracy?
How dare a company be interested in making a profit on the goods they produce?

I have no qualms with piracy, but so long as the anti-piracy measures do not effect paying customers, I fully support a company's attempt to prevent piracy and make a profit. Until Nintendo does something like the DRM that EA uses on PC games or RIAA on music or MPAA on movies, I have no issue with their actions.

this would be the new DSi's that are coming out for the rest of the world right?
i already bought an Acekard 2i..
UGH T-T

I believe this is about the current DSi's, the ones from Japan.
However, I have heard from many people to hold off on the cards till a US release.
