So I'm having a bit of a delema depending on how you look at it. To make a long story short about 3 months back my ds lite was stolen, sucks but thems the breaks. When it happened I swore I would replace it and upgrade to a DSI. While since then I've had the chance to play with the DS XL and fell in love with it, however with the 3DS' price drop
I now have a choice seeing as the two systems are the same price.

The reason I'm considering the 3ds is mainly for Oot, I loved the game as a kid and would love to play it again, however the 3ds' battery life bothers me and I hate the idea of buying a system for only one game. ( however I have done so in the past) When it comes the the XL I rather like the battery life and like the larger screen but no OoT. I love the Zelda series but I'm the type of gamer that will sit all day and play but I don't always have access to a plug to charge.

Is the 3ds currently worth it/ will it be in the near future? Or should I stick to my guns and go with the xl? Mind you either way Id be by a flash cart that would work with either system.

Please forgive any typos, I'm posting this from my mobile.

Thanks in advance

- Tripp

Do you have a flashcart?

I would say get the 3DS and reap the rewards when more good
games come for it.

A lot of games are coming out near/around November, just base on that, I say get the 3DS.

I recommend the black one.

I'm am going to kick my mobile this iz the third time I've typed this.

Other the OoT few of the 3ds games are catch my eye, maybe animal crossing but that's a maybe. My main worry is the bat life, I don't have the ablity to charge overnight, and I sure as heck don't have the cash for the system, cart, and a back up bat.

Maybe Im just weary about getting a system I haven't tried. a stop at gamestop may be in order.

Get a PSP. They are cheaper, you can play OOT on it, every one out there is hackable ATM, it has a bigger screen, and you still have money to buy a ds lite!

Sorry for you, pal.

I see...

You don't mind other games? What kind of games do you like? JRPG? Shooter?

however the 3ds' battery life bothers me and I hate the idea of buying a system for only one game. ( however I have done so in the past)
Mine in 3D lasted around 4 - 6 hours, 2D around 5 - 8 hours. Is that too short for you?

My DSi XL battery isn't as good as it is written. Over the past year the battery goes down to half after about 3 hours of gameplay. I have no idea if it's the same case for all batteries but mine is an original one, and my XL is from Japan. (Yeah LL)

Is the 3ds currently worth it/ will it be in the near future? Or should I stick to my guns and go with the xl? Mind you either way Id be by a flash cart that would work with either system.
3DS now? Absolute no. Future? Yes. There are many games coming and Nintendo might even come out with another Zelda for it (no confirmation but it's my guess). Most acceptable flash kits (Acekard 2i for example) will work on the 3DS. On the 3DS, DS games will look slightly blurish compared to DS/DSi. DSi XL on the other hand will look slightly pixelated as a result of the larger screen. For your case, it depends. If you find that you just want a console for Zelda, then... I don't know, it's just up to you.

It's okay. iPhone or Android?

OP, did you like the DS? And you like the DSiXL?! Well you'll also like the 3DS as it is pretty much the same but plays more powerful games.
If you're mostly playing DS games you can scrape an extra 3-4 hours out of the battery easily

As for the N64 emu... I believe there's more than one, right?

This seems all interesting but what if you were to trade in your XL for a 3DS? I am sorry for butting in but this has been eating me since the beginning. If I were to trade in my XL as of now I could get the 3DS for 60 I believe since gamestop does 100 value for XL and 60 for dsl/dsi. Since 3DS is 160 minus 100 that makes 60. Not sure. Maybe the stopped this deal but I doubt it. If they did then still.

Anyways long story short excluding the confusing stuff should I get rid of my XL for 3ds? I have a DSTWO flashcart but I am not sure if it works on the 3DS. It shows alex rider when it boots up so should it work or should I upgrade it or something?

I used the 3DS and seen it at gamestop and it is extremely different in size and other features. Im not sure if I want to let go of my midnight blue dsi xl for it. If I so I am thinking of selling it since I can get 140 for it on craigslist. Any recommendations?

I have been debating this since release.

The 3DS expansion slidepad makes it bigger

Anyway, I won't suggest you trading in. If you really want a 3DS, just save for one. Why?

1. Quality 3DS games aren't out yet.
2. The slidepad expansion isn't out yet
3. You can use your XL for ahems.
4. It just plays DS games better.

DSi XL value at $100? Meh.

I already have 120 saved up but with stupid tax the 3ds is 180 really so that is why I am thinking of selling it. However that will never happen. If I had a burgundy or whatever default color was out originally I would have done it without second thinking it but I have midnight blue. That is the best color I have ever seen bro honestly I can't part with it. I don't even use it anymore (gathering dust because I moved over to psp since ds scene died) but still its so sexy. In my opinion.

Continue saving. Games will only start rolling in this December. You still have time.
