Hacking DS upper screen malfunction

Hello everybody!

Somewhere around 2006 a friend of mine purchased his DS. It's been working great since then, but recently there seems to be a problem with the upper screen. Whenever you tilt the DS or press the L/R buttons, the screen fades into this white mess. I seriously have no idea what's causing this. The hinges are fine, but I'm thinking it might be a loose connection or a worn out ribbon cable. Help is very much appreciated! Here's a Youtube video illustrating the problem:

It looks like a poor connection, the wires might be shot.
I would send that out to get repaired.
I have seen that happen a few times before.

On a DS lite you will need to replace the top screen (the ribbon cable comes with it). Not the easiest repair as you will need to resolder the speakers, however read the tutorials and it is not that hard.
