Is this games released in America only, or do Japanese releases count? I think Metal Max 3 is pretty significant for the "traditional turn-based category", even though it's an open-world game.

Didn't even know summon night was available on ds. Enjoyed the first one on gba quite a lot.

Wouldn't the advance wars games come under tactics?

Anyway good list, a few of those games I somehow missed and might need to check out!

I feel really bad now, cuz I just made one of these threads yesterday... lol. But in my defense, I was asking about RPGs in general in the general gaming section, not just DS. :P

Whoa, this thread is simply amazing. I Did a similar thread in an italian forum, but it's not organised like this, mine is just an alphabetical list of RPG on the DS, but it's not divided in categories. And it looks like i've missed some games.

My compliments to the creator, really a good job.

You forgot Dramatic Dungeon Sakura Taisen. It's a dungeon crawler based on the franchise as well as the same guys behind the Mystery Dungeon series. Pretty good game.

Can somebody please tell me which of these can be controlled by using ONLY the touchscreen? My d-pad is broken, but I'm not getting it fixed, since I'll get a 3DS in a month or two.

Dragon Quest IX and the two Zelda games.
those should last you a while, have fun.
In b4 "Zelda isn't an RPG, yo"

Also, Radiant Historia and Chrono Trigger DS can optionally be controlled with only the touch screen.

In fact, I think MOST JRPGs on the DS have optional full touch screen control.

Dragon Quest IV doesn't have that option.
I was just suggesting Zelda because it was a game with touch control that he might like.
