DS Motion Card Now Available!

Motion sensor card for DS homebrew

The DS Motion Card is now available for purchase from the DSPassme store. The DS sized card contains an accelerometer and gyroscope, adding motion sensing functionality to DS homebrew projects.

Tech demos that take advantage of the DS Motion Card have already been written. The author, KeithE, has provided the source code and information for developers to integrate motion sensing into their own homebrew projects. Here is what he says about the card:

QUOTE said:
The DS Motion Card is a revolutionary motion sensor for the DS and DS Lite handheld gaming systems. It contains a 3-axis accelerometer and a single-axis gyroscope, and plugs into the DS card slot to enable full motion sensing on the DS and the DS lite.

It is the first tri-axis accelerometer that can be used for homebrew DS development, and the first and only accelerometer/gyroscope combination available for handheld gaming.

Sucks for Slot 1 users.

Still an awesome thing, hope I can get my hands on one for review

Will someone explain why I would want to buy this? I don't understand why I should pay $25 plus shipping to play some tech demos or some d-bag's homebrew. I don't mean to antagonize anyone, I just wan't to put d-bag in my post. Seriously, though, who's buying this and why?

This is a great product that future DS homebrew could really take advantage of. There might not be anything right now worth buying one for, but hopefully in the future some really interesting homebrew games and apps will be created that use it.

Interesting.

But they obviously won't sell many until some piece of good homebrew takes advantage of it... and I can't think of any homebrew ideas that would work with it.

Still, interesting to see they can fit all the motion sensitive stuff into a DS cart. I'd have thought they'd be much bigger.

If this could somehow be integrated into retail DS games, it would be a hit. I'm not sure if that's possible though if they can emulate the directional pad and make it work while playing retail games.

I knew about this thing long time ago.

It's worthless though. There're no worthy homebrew games without motion card, and I highly doubt that motion card will change anything.

Um... Like "Worthy of being played."? "Worthy of my time."? It makes sense, it's just wrong. The DS has an astonishing amount of high quality homebrew games and software.

I ordered the thing already, let's see what people make of it.
