Gaming DS Lite without top screen

I bought 4 broken DS Lites in a bundle for a good price and one of them is missing the top screen, when I try to power it on nothing happens. I tried plugging it in and the orange light will light up and stay like that but still no green light and won't power on. Is it normal that it won't power on without the top screen or there's something else wrong? (It's also missing the volume slider but I'm 99% sure it's only missing the plastic piece)

I got it to power on it shows a white screen for one frame then powers off I think that is normal from what I searched on the internet so only way is to get a top screen?

I guess I'll have to get a new top half or use one from my other DS Lites

I followed this guide: https://facelesstech.wordpress.com/2014/06/29/turn-broken-nintendo-ds-into-gameboy-advance/ but it still shows a white screen and turns off. The LED does light up though. Why it still won’t work? There’s no microphone or antenna cable connected to it, could that be the cause?
