Hacking DS lite start up failure

I recently bought a ds lite from my local game store and this is the first week into playing it with around 20 hours of game time. I bought the M3 ds Real package and had it working smoothly and properly. A day after I have it up and running the ds does not power up anymore. The green light will turn on for 2 seconds, the screen flashes white for a split second then shuts off. Does anyone know a solution or the cause of my problem before I return it and or have it repaired?

It's possible the battery is just out of juice, did you try recharging the battery?
