On my DS lite, when I press on ds download play it just freezes. It opens up, then theres nothing on the bottom screen except for cancel (Or whatever its called). The top screen still has the clock and everything. Also pictochat won't join a room. It just presses down then nothing happens.

PS: It isn't after I press a game, it won't even start searching for a game. Can anyone help me with this?

What happens when you try to launch the wifi mode in a game with online play?

The two theories I am working on are

    A) somehow your wifi got damaged and as it is not responding the DS does not know what to do. If it launches network play in a game this is probably not the case. If it fails there too then it is probably that as the DS games do not have to talk to the firmware so much for their wifi.

    B) Your firmware got damaged somehow but it is still enough to run. Chances are you can fix this by running flashme and unflashme a couple of times.

If it is A) and the wifi chip has messed up (maybe just come loose) then http://www.ifixit.com/Guide/Installing+Nintendo+DS+Lite+Wi-Fi+Board/4758/1 details how to replace it. I am not sure how easy it will be to source new parts around you though.

"Chances are you can fix this by running flashme and unflashme a couple of times."

Could you elaborate on this? I believe it is B because this problem happened before, then fixed itself. How do I run the flashme? What is it exactly?

If it fixed itself it might be a loose chip that got back in place and flashme will not fix it.

Still Flashme is the name of the standard modded firmware for the DS, unflashme is the tool that writes the original firmware back. By running noflashme (sorry, I do not know where unflashme came from) a few times you force it to write the original firmware and hopefully get rid of any corrupt sections that are causing your problems.
You can download them from http://home.comcast.net/~olimar/flashme/

It probably is a loose chip. I'll look into fixing it. Thanks for your help!
