Hacking Homebrew DS bootstrap never works

I got a 2011 3DS recently just because I wanted a pokemon machine, and wanted to grab the virtual console pokemon games and pokemon bank/poke transporter before the eshop closure. But then I accidentally purchased a European copy of Pokemon Moon that I couldn't run on my American 3DS so I homebrewed my 3DS and have been obsessed with homebrew ever since. But, I cant seem to get any ds software running on it. When I run a DS game that I have a cart of (in my case brain age 2) it works fine, but if I try to run the DS menu, homebrew DS, or any DS software I try to install by using the ds forwarder, the screens just go white around the ds aspect ratio. That proves that it has gone into DS mode, but just cant do anything from there. What do I do?

Make sure to create your own DS forwarders with YANBF.
If your copy of Brain Age worked, then the DS mode is working on your system.
Something's not right with your forwarders. You can also try with TWilightmenu as mentioned above, if you want to play nds roms without installing forwarders to the home menu.
