Played through the first two kingdoms and it's decent. It's a better sequel to Puzzle Quest than Galactrix ever was, but it is pretty easy and the puzzle mechanics aren't as deep. However, the way it's set up is good since you no longer get the feeling of the computer cheating after a 3 minute chain of 4 clears.

Its ok, nothing special.

Time for the developers to try something else I reckon. Its sort of like they did this quickly just for the money and that the publisher is hoping that the "from the makers of Puzzle Quest" blurb will sell this 'cos I can't see this game getting good enough reviews or any good word of mouth.

Galactrix was a lot better on the PC than it was on the DS but this is better than the DS version of Galactrix.

Music reminds me of Braid.

On my system I find it hard sometimes to tap the button or the character in the world map. Anyone having this problem? I'm using M3 Sakura btw...

illithid, have you tried Galactrix? Was it playable?

I mean, that there was a similar problem with Galactrix. It used the free open library devkit, and there was a bug in this library on some percentage of DSes. It worked as if the touchscreen calibration was off. That is, all other games is Ok, except the Galactrix and homebrew apps using this library.

Too bad if they used the same buggy library with this game. If so - then, no luck.

I enjoy it, even moreso now that I realize you can move on the puzzle board by touching the block you want to add instead of swiping the whole row like in Puzzle League (which I stupidly was doing for the entire first kingdom).

Is it a quick cash grab? Probably, it feels quite a bit like an expansion pack for Puzzle Quest with a new puzzle system. I do enjoy it a lot more than Galactrix and this might end up taking its place on my card, but I don't see this being the big underrated juggernaut Puzzle Quest was. I see it as being one of those games you see marked down to 15 bucks at Gamestop that no one knows exists and assume it's just another Bejeweled clone based on the name.

And why all puzzle quest series always have low volume sound effect and music? I guess their developers have sensitive hearing problems or something.

umm anciently (if tht is correct to say) there were more puzzle games than shovelware and it seems the previous one contributed to tht age also
i don't know if an easy puzzle game is worth it or not but rittai can also be fun

Really hoping I enjoy this...

I loved Puzzle Quest but had to stop playing because the cheating AI really made it not fun for me.

I loved the puzzle system of Galactrix even more, but the loading screens, reappearing leapgates and touchscreen issues made me give up on it. I just HATED navigating the menus and dreaded any time I had to customize my characters or ship.

It's like they made a game I would love and fuck it up just enough so that I don't want to play it...here's hoping they got it right this time.

Wait, really? Mine doesn't seem to have one, unless it was removed before it was put on the site I got it from.
