Hacking Drive detection issue

Just updated a 3.2 wii to 4.1
The wii had only HBC on it, but the USB loader is not detecting a drive that works just fine with 2 other wiis.
it was pretty much a virgin wii, I've just installed waninkoko's cios36 rev7

what am I missing, that would cause the drive to not detect, with either usb loader gx or ultimate usb loader, in either usb port.

cIOSrev7?? AFAIK, only cIOSrev9+ has usb loading function!
