Im sure you all are aware but DQ 10 is on the 3ds and im quite surprised as to why it hasnt been localised. Im new to DQ as a whole but im really intrested in playing the 10th entry but ive discovered that its on the 3ds in japan but has not been transalated but more importantly it also hasnt been localised.

Is there a reason as to why?
Has there been any news on any potential localisation in the future?

Are there any fans transalating it?
i mean im aware that the DQ 8 transalation got shut down since it had an offical localisation on the way but what about DQ 10? i dont see a potential localisation so therefore id be surpised if fans werent working on it since the games have a really dedicated fan base

Well those are all the questions i have.

BTW mods im sorry if this is in the wrong thread. Feel free to move it but im just curious is all. If anyone could answer my queries itd be awesome!!

There's no official reason as to why there is no localization for DQX. Granted, localizing an MMO is a huge amount of work, and DQ doesn't exactly sell like hotcakes over here, so the reason might be simply that the projected returns don't justify the effort required to do so.

I think there was some sort of poll or something by S-E a little while back that asked if people wanted to see a DQX localization (I think it might have been for the Wii U version, though). It was either just before or just after DQ7 came out. I don't particularly care for MMOs, so I didn't bother looking into it.

AFAIK, there are no fan translation projects for DQX for either 3DS or Wii U, though, again, I haven't really looked into it. S-E's law department being super trigger-happy with C&Ds on DQ fan projects is probably a contributing factor. They not only shot down the DQ8 3DS fan translation after the localization had been announced, they shot down DQ7 3DS long before a localization was ever announced.

I's also been quite a while since the game released, and while DQ7 proves that's not necessarily a bar from getting a localization, it's not looking good, either.

Mostly, I have my hopes set forward on DQ11.

DQX is a pay to play game which is why it hasn't been fan translated. Why do something like that when you need Japanese money to play it?

You have to pay monthly to play the game is what I'm saying. It requires a paid membership like WOW or any other big mmorpg

Not only would an English-speaking player need to pay for the game, they'd be paying to play with a playerbase that is Japanese by a huge margin. It kind of ruins the MMO spirit if you can't actually properly communicate with most people.

Ah allright cool. I see your viewpoint but personally id be up for that. I mean i dont have a strong enough connection to play mmos on PC but playing an MMO on the 3ds would be awesome and ibe always wanted to play with Japanese players. I hear that
their in a leauge of their own but yeah since this wont get localised i doubt that will happen.

Say has there been any news on localisation?

yall im torn... ive been hacking away at tales of phantasia GBA (the USA version) and have so many documents of reverse engineering i've done
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
I just found out that the EU version is better in literally every way, better sound quality, better lighting, and there's even a patch someone made to make the text look nicer
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
Do I restart now using what i've learned on the EU version since it's a better overall experience? or do I continue with the US version since that is what ive been using, and if someone decides to play my hack, it would most likely be that version?
  • Sicklyboy @ Sicklyboy:
@TwoSpikedHands, I'll preface this with the fact that I know nothing about the game, but, I think it depends on what your goals are. Are you trying to make a definitive version of the game? You may want to refocus your efforts on the EU version then. Or, are you trying to make a better US version? In which case, the only way to make a better US version is to keep on plugging away at that one ;)
  • Sicklyboy @ Sicklyboy:
I'm not familiar with the technicalities of the differences between the two versions, but I'm wondering if at least some of those differences are things that you could port over to the US version in your patch without having to include copyrighted assets from the EU version
