Why would there be an illegal Chinese copy of Rocket Slime in some second-hand shop in the US?

I say pics (of the cartridge) or GTFO.

Why? there is load of fakes on ebay. It could have been bought on ebay then someone sold the game and nds to the shop. Everything the guy has said can happen.

Believe it or GTFO.

Ok, I didn't know how easy it was to get illegal games on Ebay (because Ebay has a policy against illegal games). In that case, yup, I believe you.

I still want to see pics though.

in fact, if this story is true, I quickly suspect that the game was the first cartridge used on the pink ds (as it came with it) and it was probably blown prior to even being owned by the shop!

Caveat Empor!

I don't doubt this story, but I've only ever heard cases where a flash cart bricked the DS. If this is indeed a retail cartridge, you'd have to contact the manufacturer of the game.

More likely this is caused by a flashcart and one of those bricker trojans people hide in roms and such.

I'm sorry TC, I've pushed game carts in and out while my DS has been booting too, and I have never had my DS bricked doing so. I find it hard to believe this is the case for you.

From what I understand, brickers don't work on the DS Lite, too much of the rom is under the protected mode, so unless you happen to be shorting that circuit while the bricker goes, it won't do anything but wipe settings.

BTW, FireRed has AP. It is known that if you play on a pirated copy of FireRed/LeafGreen, a character in the game tells you to "buy this game or die".

"At one point in Pokémon Firered and Leafgreen, a sailor informs you - "By the way. Buy this game, or die." Of course, this only pops up if you're playing either an illegal ROM or you used a Gameshark to get a ticket that should only be available at a Nintendo event."
