Homebrew Downgrading?

I'm curious if it's possible to downgrade my system to a version that doesn't have Miiverse and the theme shop for the 3ds.

Its personal preference really more than a need. I'm just wondering if it's possible with a 3ds that has 3ds CFW.

Yeah you could I don't see why you would though. Just use 3DNUS to download an "update" pack for 6.3.0-12 (I believe that's the last firmware before MiiVerse was added) then use sysdowngrader.

The a9lh guide has you use a ctrnand transfer image to downgrade to 2.1, which had neither of those.

I didn't realize this but do certain games like Smash Bros require a certain FW to play and eshop to?

That would basically be a deal breaker for me to stay on a more recent FW because I don't want to have to use Homebrew apps every single time to acsess a service.

Yes, more recent games require a higher firmware in order to be played. You're better off staying on a higher firmware.

The icons bug me and I don't really use them. The theme shop is useless now since I can just get custom made ones fron 3ds.themes and I never use Miiverse because there are other social media sites like Smash Boards that have a neat community and better moderated/watched over forum so it basically the place doesn't become no mans land like Miiverse is today (atleast that's how I see miiverse ._.)

Again, just personal preference than an actual complaint or need.
