It seems like every pal game I play on my wii goes to 480i even though I have 480p enabled in my wii settings. Is it possible the console reads a different set of settings for each region? and if so, how can I get into pal mode so I can enable 480p in it?
Some out of region games will load in 480i - eg NTSC SSBB on my PAL wii. If you use gecko OS to launch the game and you should be in 480p.
