My laptop connects wiimote fine, but my Alienware Alpha won't. I try to add it as a device. It acts like it connects. Sometimes it shows as an added device for a minute then disappears sometimes it doesn't appear at all after the connection dialogue finishes.
Either way, Dolphin won't connect (continuous scanning checked and clicking sync on the wiimote then Refresh).

So if I buy the Mayflash bar will my connection always work right away or will this connection utility be just as finicky as my built in bluetooth adapter?

I also saw a video about taking a wii bluetooth module and wiring it into a USB dongle... I can't solder. I've tried multiple times. Does anyone sell these?

Dolphin bar is amazing, don’t doubt it.

I put off buying one for months, I wish I hadn’t, it’s perfection for PC/Wii/WiiU and my Nvidia Shield TV box.

I can't speak to the soldering, but I still have one of my DolphinBars. I've never had a single issue with it at all with Dolphin and getting my Wii Remotes connected.

Are you sure both PCs are running the same Bluetooth stack? They don't necessarily need to, but it may be a difference that accounts for the problem.
