Hacking Does the GC Backup launcher work with the drum controller?

Howdy guys. I'd like to know whether the Gamecube backup launcher Xi works with the Donkey Kong drum controller. I'd also like to know whether or not it matters if i purchase the drum controller intended for another region (in this case an NTSC-J controller for a NTSC-U console). Thanks in advance.
