Hacking Does the Backup Loader bypass updates on discs?

Does the Backup Loader bypass updates that are on discs? Or if you actually wanted to run said update can you do it through Backup Loader?

Is this true with gamma. I heard that you have to use brickblocker when burning to bypass the update.
