When I open my 3DS I can see faint vertical smudge lines about a quarter inch (half centimeter) from either side of the 3D screen. Does anybody else have this annoying little problem?

Still

my 3DS though.

I've noticed that the clamshell design has a small gap that fails to protect it from dust, so I'm ALWAYS wiping off bits of dust when I put the system out of my pocket.

Same here and I HATE that.

I've noticed this. I was able to wipe it off, though.

I hear you. Methinks that a case is mandatory for this portable generation. Especially to keep dust out of the shoulder button cracks -- I have a 3 year old lite with both shoulder buttons kaput.

I put Hori protectors on first thing after I opened my 3DS box. But yeah I do get those marks and thanks to the protectors I just use my finger to wipe em off every time.

512? That more like hexadecimal you silly.

I never noticed screen smudges but theres a circle on the top half mirrored to where the analog stick is after the first time I closed it after use

^^ This person has it correct. That bad thing is after a while it will leave permanent scratches on the 3DS's top screen if you don't use screen protectors. Very very bad design flaw.

It is a bad flaw, but doesn't mean it will give it permanent scratches.

And before you call TROLLING!!! No I'm not just posting how I feel.

512 = Decimal
0x200 = Hex
1000000000 = Binary

Anyway, yeah, I panicked the first time I noticed that a whole vertical line had gone funky, it looked like a whole line was showing the wrong image (a left line showing the right image). It turned out to be a small smudge. It seams that any little smudge doesn't just effect that tiny part of the screen, but the whole vertical line, weird, but panic over, nothing was broken!

Unfortunately, my Hori screen protector now has a very noticeable scratch from this issue. Im scared as to whether it has gone through to the actual screen or not and I dont want to peel it off to check because I didnt get any lint under it and I want to keep it that way.

Sure 512 is decimal but it's the decimal representation of the hexadecimal number 200.

What difference does that make?

ANYWAYS.......

I noticed the same thing on my 3DS too; but I thought it was because I had screen protectors on
