Get an Android with an IR blaster.

i have iphone 4 i am trying to find out how to make a ir blaster can the led be from any remote?

it has ir but not a 'blaster' - i think i read it's very low power and won't reach far.
and as the person above says, yeah maybe it's a different protoctol, but i thought ir was ir and if you make it blink at the right speed you can do what you want... i'm not sure

Toss it and buy a Galaxy S5 on Groupon. They are like $160

The problem is that the IR driver does not support sending raw data (but it can receive it, according to the dev tool?) so it would imply an arm9 homebrew that does everything by itself... and yeah, the range sucks

I think you'd need a few parts for iphone, i dont think its assimple as stick an IR led into the headphone jack
