I was on 9.5 on the original 3DS and updated to 9.7 and think the 3D effect is a little better, is it just me in my head?
Is the eye detection mechanism upgraded on each firmwares by nintendo, or do they just say fuck off, if you want decent 3D buy the "New" 3DS...

Pretty sure it is just you. Seems the same on every firmware I have tried. AFAIK o3ds does not even have eye tracking. Could be wrong though.

NO, it has always been the same since 1.0.0 has been out. A placebo on your end. For me it's just painful to play with 3d on for even 30 mins and it makes omega ruby lag hard.

I like your positivism mr. Pip, do you have any proofs to back it up?

Yes it does make 3D effect better. Don't listen to those fartheads stucked on older firmware hoping for piracy.

Pip'
Fartheads?, how old are you? the firmware does not and probably won't enhance the 3d effect. There's nothing to fix. the n3ds has head tracking because of specialized hardware that was in the n3ds, not the o3ds.

The sarcasm went way over your head dude...

And to answer the OP's question: No. Firmware updates won't change how the 3D effect works, it's built into the system so an update wouldn't be able to change it anyway
