Noisy?

With all the amazing specs we get to see every day, the speculations and stuff.
A possible HDD or anything else to store random stuff on.
Wouldn't that make it noisy?

Really, I can hear my DSi, even though it's a really low volume sound. I can't hear my ds lite. :/
I think it'll be kinda noisy

Just a bit worse than the DSi...

You don't know noisy until you hear a Xbox 360. Those things are loud as fuck, depending on the game. That puppy roars when I played Mass Effect.

But provided it doesn't have a fan or uses discs it shouldn't be noisy at all. And the DSi is quite as practically every other handheld, I don't see how you could hear anything from it, let alone complain from any noise it makes (which is probably the equivalent of a pin dropping).

I doubt it would be noisy.
It won't have a HDD. That I can be sure of. It wouldn't be practical for a handheld. SSD storage is a much more practical choice for reliability and noise.

Also, Guild is right. The 360 is loud as hell!

nahh it wont use discs and if it has internal memory im 100% certain it will be flash memory

I thought you meant the speakers, lol. Like everyone else said it probably won't be noisy but I sure as hell hope the speakers are louder. I can barely hear it when I play Lego Rockband

No you can't.

Yes I can...
I'm sure I do :/
It sounds like err...
A gas tube thingy, that leaks gas.
But extremely quiet, it's that quiet, that I can't really hear it when I'm playing with it about 40 cm from my head.
But if my head is closer, I can ensure you it makes a noise.

Pretty off-topic and stuff, but eh, is this normal? o.o

I can hear the DSi too, as long as there is no music coming from the speakers.
Although, even with the volume off, I can still hear it.

So yes, it is normal. :3

Well that's because when you turn the sound off the sound is just being blocked but you can still hear it a tiny bit like someone watching tv in another room when you have no noise.

Hey it does make noise! I hear the tv sound coming from it...its from the speakers I am almost sure of it but I put my ear up to the screen and I hear a high pitched tone. Do any of you hear that? It sounds loudest from the bottom right of the touch screen (it's a dsi)

Edit: I don't want to post again so I am editing
It seems just to be common with touch screens in general.

Meh the 360 isn't nearly as noisy if you install the game to the HDD.
Anyways I highly doubt it will be noisy unless you have the volume up high

The speakers of the DSi make a high pitched sound that most adults aren't able to hear. This might be why you don't think there's a sound, because you're unable to hear it.
To clarify, if you can't hear the audio in this YouTube video, then you probably won't be able to hear the sound the DSi makes.

Also, the 360S is whisper quiet, so Guild's post is slightly incorrect (although I agree that the regular 360 is noisy as hell).

Don't know if this has been said yet, but HDD require a ton more power than a flash drive. Since Nintendo is trying to maximize battery life as much as possible, they'll probably use a Flash drive instead of a HDD. Sure it's slightly more expensive, but the added battery life would be worth it, plus the added loading speed. I'm sure that if Solid-state drives were significantly cheaper they'd go with them, but their high cost is prohibitive right now.

I'd expect an 8GB(minimum) flash drive built into the system if they really want to move forward with digital distribution and the possibility of installing games to internal storage.

8 Gigs? The Wii has 512MB. Sure, they realized this is not enough later and added a half assed SD card system, but still. I expect minimal storage space, maybe 1 or 2 Gigs, and an SD system.
