Hacking do I have to update to 4.2

I just bought a wii and it came with firmware 4.1 do I Really need to update to 4.2 in order for everything to work or can I just keep it at what it is?,
and how do I update my wii to 4.2 without internet, I saw a guide on here but it's a video and I am more of a reading person than a video person, any written guides?
also, the guide I was following said to only install 1 ios, so I did, but now I see guides that say to install all of them, should I go back and install the other ios's? what will happen if I don't ?

you don't have to update. read the sticky guide at the top of this forum if you want to update safely.
