ROM Hack Do homebrew apps need a slot-2 RAM?

I'm curious.

Do all homebrew apps need a slot-2 RAM/expansion (i.e. EZFlash 3-in-1, Ewin 2-in-1, M3 RAM Pack, etc.) to run or can they just run by themselves without a problem?

slot-2 ram is only necessary for a few homebrews like quakeDS2, and DSlinux.
most can run fine with only a slot-1 card.
