This is explained in the parts list:

Series resistor for status LEDÂ 1Â

Only needed if you want to have the status LED. The optimal ohm value depends on the type and color of the LED you use (voltage = 3.3V if you want to calculate the optimal value). As long as you don't use low-current LEDs, the following values should work fine:
Red=120 Ohm / Green+Yellow = 90 Ohm / Blue = 30 Ohm'

Thanks for pointing that out.

I'm trying to compile a UK list for the Tools Supplies wiki page based on UK electronics shops, but am having some troubles... anyway heres my makeshift WIP shopping list so far:

Capacitor (for the chip):
Ceramic 100 variety, product code: WX56L (Maplin, UK)

Capacitor (for the programmer):
Radial Electrolytic Capacitors, product code: VH32K (Maplin, UK)

Is this type of LED ok for the chip?
5mm LEDs, product code: WL29Â (Maplin, UK)

Single core wire:
Single core wire, product code: 6187Â (Maplin, UK)

Socket (for the Amtel chip / programmer):
28pin DIL socket, product code: 110-3837 (Farnell, UK?)
The picture there isnt correct - but this is definately the correct kind of socket (i.e. 0.3" wide, rather than 0.6"). Also don't panic about the high price - this is for 17 pieces!!
or
28pin DIL socket, product code: FZ57M (Maplin, UK)

Hmm any ideas what resistor value is needed for orange LEDs on the chip?

Thanks to: arctic_flame for verifying some of the info above.

About the capacitor, I gave you the wrong number in the PM

The Product code is VH32K and the page is HERE
