is there such a thing as a divx play for the wii? im a noob i dont know if there is.
they should have one where you can play .avi files directly from a external hard drive or flashdrive

I still have trouble loading dvd's from those players. Mplayer ce says "mounting dvd" but then stops loading after that and wiimc reads "invalid dvd" whenever I try and play any dvd.

Recommend MPlayer_CE and WiiMC.
Latest WiiMC works with my DVDs but the video part has sync errors.

Do you have cIOS 202 installed for use with MPlayer CE?

YES I have the ios 202 folder thingy in my apps. Syscheck says it works too. But I am still having problems.

Do you have DVDX installed? If you have also installed DARKCORP, try installing their 'DVDX fix'. This can be done by Running the DARKCORP installer again. Last time I knew, DVDX was required even if you had cIOS 202, right?

And also, did you INSTALL ios 202? In order for an IOS to be installed on your wii, it must be written permanently to your wii... The files you put on an SD card are simply installers that must be run from HBC

Also, if you do get it work know that WIIMC is the only program I know of capable of displaying the full DVD menu of movies.

this may sound rude, but I honestly don't mean it to be

buy/use a DVD player... why are u going to wear and tear your wii to play DVD's? Save your Wii laser's finite lifetime for playing/ripping Wii/gamecube discs

of course it would be nice to get it working just to get it working (as I have done), but I would NEVER use my wii to play DVD's (at least not regularly)

Doesnt IOS202 only matter if reading from USB.
Actually, cIOS 202 is used for both USB 2.0 and reading DVDs. In fact, one does not need DVDx if cIOS 202 is installed.

This is correct. And smashdude, you can't just have the files sitting in your apps folder on your sd card and expect it to work, you actually have to INSTALL the ios via the installer.
