I havent had the chance to play to original (even though I own a PS2, I cant find a copy anywhere), so a DS version is more than welcome

Well if its a success than maybe we'll get an all new one.
Probably not. More than likely just a remake of the second game, and then afterwards maybe the 3rd?

I won't be surprised if that did happen.

Well its been announced that its out in the US this Summer (NIS America are already working on it) and seeing that I'll probably sell my PSP and I can't be arsed with the PS2 it'll be nice to have it on the DS. Plus its nice for the Nintendo fanboys that won't get anything that isn't on a Nintendo machine.

how the fuck they going to fit it into a nintendo ds cart .... there probably going to get rid of the voice overs
It's likely, but I'm sure they are going to try as hard as possible to avoid that.

Been playing it on and off on the PSP but I'm more likely to "stick to it" on the DS so I welcome this game.

Why would you play a more 'dumbed' down version of the game on the DS over the PSP version?
Probably because when it comes down to controls, the DS will nail it better making the entire game much more streamlined.

Personal thing I suppose, whenever I'm given the choice to use touch screen controls or D pad controls on DS games I always choose the D Pad, much easier.

So therefore for me the controls would be the same on both handhelds.
I would use the D-Pad too in most cases. Too easy to hit the wrong selection on the touch screen in most SRPG games.'

And My remark was meant more or less geared towards if they didn't lose the voice overs. Problem is I didn't actually type that.

And about why I'd still play the DS version? Hah, I don't know really know. I always just seem to enjoy playing something on a DS more. I could play an nes emulator on a PSP but I grab the DS instead most the time. I really wish I had an explination but I don't. It's almost subconcious or some shit. Maybe Nintendo "got to me"!

For me I have to play Nintendo on a Nintendo, at times I wish they'd would release a hardcore handheld for us but then it and the DS will lack variety perhaps.

Sorry to go off topics chaps and ladies.

I really hope they don't force the use of touch screen to move the characters. I had problems with Luminous Arc with touch control. Wouldn't it make sense to release it on the Wii alongside with Disgaea 2?

here is my theory about the game

No 3D background and no rotating, the backgrounds will be static
No Voice Overs
No Anime Clips
Graphics and music dumbed down
Maybe some new levels to play MAYBE

also here is my biggest theory .............. JAPAN ONLY RELEASE

Unless they add online multiplayer, I see no reason to play Disgaea 1 again. Already played it once for PS2 and PSP. I'm still wondering how they're going to fit it on a DS cart as well. Even if they remove voice overs and cutscenes, there's still a ton of battle animations and a ton of sprites.

Except that it's already announced to be coming to North America...
