NIS is really getting their crap together. Plus, they're integrating monsters from my all time favorite SRPG, Phantom Brave, so I can't complain.

I like Nippon ichi and NIS games since I played Rhapsody, I would like to play a lot of game from that company but I'm lacking time.

Disgaea games are very long to complete, right ? Does it take a lot of time to reach level 9999 (not mandatory I hope

)?

Are the game always sequels, or can I play them in any order?

You can play them in any order, and is that serious question, of course it takes a long time to reach 9999. But you really only need to get to 65 or 70 to beat the main story.

yes, it was more the time and reaching level to complete the game that I wondered, 70 is far from 9999 but I guess you level up pretty fast

I thought it required more time, like 100h+ to complete the main story if it needed a really high level. but lv70 is an ok level. I should consider playing it seriously then.

To complete the post story it normally takes anywhere from 80 hours to 200 hours. Well at least for Disgaea 3.

You can play them in chronological order, but they take place in chronological order (well, 1-3 do) and one of the main characters is from Disgaea 2, my favorite one. Every Disgaea (heck, almost every Nippon Ichi game) features the main characters from Disgaea 1, so you might want to play that one first, but there's no harm in jumping right into this one

I tried the first one on DS, but I feel like the screen is too small for Tactical RPG.
I have it on PS2 too, I'll play that version when I'll have time.

God i love the new sprites. Cant wait for this game, have about 400 hours in Disgaea 3, still gotta go back and try to get the trophies.

I hope some of the Disgaea 3 characters are in though Mao was pretty hilarious, and so were the Vato Bros.

On a side note, that announcer has to be one of the most epic announcers ever XD. And wow, those Giant Monster weapons look pretty epic. (Especially with the Female Samurai dashing through all those monsters)
