Uh... SNES in 240P? AFAIK, the (North American) SNES never output anything other than a regular interlaced NTSC signal, either composite or S-video. I've never had any trouble using component cables with SNES9X GX or virtual console titles. My TV accepts 480i.

SNES doesn't output interlaced unless a game specifically sets up one of the 448-line (or 480-line) display modes. I'm not sure which games specifically use the high-resolution modes, but the majority of SNES games use 224/240-line modes (aka "240p"). Same with the Sega Genesis.

In the case of the Sega Genesis, only two commercial games are known to use interlaced mode (320x448): Sonic 2 (in 2P) and Combat Cars (in 2P). Everything else uses "240p" (320x224).

I can use Snes9xGx at 480p/480i just fine, but the original output (240p or called Double Strike by Wii Mednafen) doesn't display on my TV. In fact, very few HDTVs can output at such an unconventional resolution. 256x224 was the native Snes resolution in NTSC, which the TV would interpret as 240p. However, it had a max resolution of 512x478 for pseudo hi-res Mode 7 (Kirby's Dreamland 3, Jurassic Park and Secret of Mana all used pseudo hi-res).

Prior to that most consoles and computers didn't output an interlaced display ever.
We didn't call it progressive back then & I'm not sure its correct to refer to it as progressive now. It just outputs the same field (either odd or even) over and over. However this practise does make it onto the wikipedia page (for what thats worth) http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/240p

Most TV's had such poor quality tubes that you couldn't tell, but on a decent monitor the effect is what is commonly referred to these days as "scanlines".

Is there a way to play pal games on ntsc? I've been searching but haven't found anything.

Some games have built-in 50htz 60htz options, some may just work if you set to "Force NTSC" but not all of them, but sadly many games would give you a black screen unless you mess with the videos settings and still they will show up in 50htz, gotta get used to them ftm!
I have yet to encounter a pal game that didnt play on my ntsc tv with default setting but i am also using a HDTV with component cables

Well in my case it's Taz Wanted PAL, the video refused to work at all in default settings, changing the settings it makes the screen work in 50htz but there's noway to get it to work in 60htz, some other PAL games I got work fine when set to "Force to NTSC" while in default settings they work in 50htz, and of course some games have a built in 50htz 60htz option!

You know what? There's no point in further seeking for help on this issue, it's a lost cause. There isn't a snowball's chance in hell of me getting this game to work, most HDTV models don't support the resolution. Some suggest I get a CRT, nothing wrong with that suggestion, but get a CRT for one game? I'll buy a 3DS before that ever happens, and I can't see 3D effects.

I have a problem with GC Need for Speed Underground. When playing from disc everything is fine but after rip game gets hiccup during race :( - i'm using DML 21 (haven't try to use different cmios) and using SDHC 32GB class 10 card. Every other game i've trying to run is working fine.

Solved - changed DML to 1.4b version and everything is working fine :)

There's some good 3DS games.. like Tales of the Abyss.. and MegaMan Legends 3.. oh, right, the dumbasses cancelled that one

I'm sure the answer is NO but with the Megaman X games, would it be plausible just to run them separately on emulators? I would think at least the SNES ones would be fine I just don't know if the others happen to be among the few games actually playable on a WiiSX or not. One of them was released on Saturn as well. Could work. I haven't looked into it that much myself.

I don't doubt that there are good games for the 3DS, but I had buyer's remorse due to my inability to see 3D in anything (glasses, glasses-free, you name it). This is due to my brain thinking my left eye is "turned in" despite having cosmetic surgery on it. Without my eyes working in unison, I can't see 3D, and I thought that, since it was glasses-free, I'd see the effect, how wrong I was. I sold it towards getting a PS3 instead, so, unless someone can convince me otherwise, I'm never getting one again.

I can almost hear someone saying "just turn off the 3D". Right, but doesn't that kinda defeat the purpose of having a 3D handheld?

Whilst I feel your pain of the not-able-to-see-3d issue, I still own mine. Why? The games man, the games. The 3D is nothing but a gimmick. Since it doesn't pop OUT, I don't really get the 'wow' factor from it, I just find it interesting. I also find it a pain that whilst in 3D you can't really move the console in any which way, you have to hold it in the 'sweet spot' so I don't really care for it.

The games are the best part of the 3DS personally. /endrant.

And back on topic, I've never had DML work for me. I claim user error, but I'd love to see it working... :(

Sorry for derailing the thread, but I just wanted to vent a bit. Maybe I'll get one someday.

Ah okay, I already knew about the button combinations but I was just curious why my Power and Reset buttons on the actual console itself were not working like they used to. Thought it might have been a bug on my installation in particular.

For whatever reason when I load games using DML (actual disc or SD card) it freezes when I press the Power button.
Yeah, I'm sure that would be good to fix just like the reset button.
What they DO have is a button combination on the 1st gamecube controller to it's
GoogleCode site said:
R + Z + START = reSTART
R + Z + D-Pad Down + B = power DOWN (red button)
That doesn't work on all games as I understand but you're right, the power and reset buttons actually on the front of the Wii console don't quite do what their supposed to.

Note: The R+Z+START combination actually resets the Wii console back to the system menu. It's not like the reset button on the console which is SUPPOSED to just tell the GameCube game itself to start itself over at it's title screen again.

Eh... the only reason I even want a 3DS is for MegaMan Legends 3, which got cancelled anyways :/
