Probably because the 3DS isn't suppose to go that low so the software won't know what to do. Just a guess

i'm happy ntr has this now it works well. although no way to disable ntr's control of the backlight. if i change the backlight in the 3ds settings menu, it doesn't change.
not a real problem though.

The necessary addresses for the backlight control are probably not added for lower firmwares, since it's assumed everyone will have updated their emuNAND by now.

Im still on 9.0 on my new 3ds and everything works fine (the golden firmware) and I just need to spoof eShop, online for games etc..... well, everything works except for the backlight
