Gaming Different regions same game

I don't know if this has been asked before cause i couldn't find anything about it. But I was wondering if it was possible to install 2 cia's of the same game, but both from different region. For example, i'm trying to install Pokemon Alpha Sapphire cia that I dumped from my retail cart and a European Alpha Sapphire (this one was modified with the rom hack, Star Sapphire, that i found from that iso site). Would I be able to install both on one 3ds and play with different save files? I wanted to keep both the original and the rom hack on one 3ds. I'm using a 9.0/9.5U N3DS XL with Gateway.

well pokemon is a region free game as for others you'd probably could because of the different regions id's. As far as romhacks I think there's a tool to change the id's of games.
