Hacking Differences Between r4i-SDHC

Hey guys. So I did a lot of research a while back and I decided on the r4i-SDHC instead of the r4i gold. I was looking on nds-card.com and it seems that they have many types of the same flashcard. Are some of these just cheap knock offs or older versions? I looked and they seem to do the same things. I was planning on playing on a ds lite. Would you all be able to recommend which version is the best? I can't tell which is the "official" one or least likely to break and maybe you guys know. Here are the links. Thanks.

Why did you decide to get a r4i-sdhc instead of a r4i gold? R4isdhc.com and r4i-sdhc.com cards are complete crap. Get a R4i gold 3DS RTS/Plus from r4ids.cn: http://nds-card.com/ProShow.asp?ProID=575

The first r4 sdhc is not compatible with dsi/dsi xl, 3ds.

Second and Third one is by r4isdhc.com/r4isdhc.com.cn These are timebomb carts (Flashcarts that are timebombs will stop working after a certain date has passed sort of like an expiration date so you have to purchase another one)

Last one is carts produced by r4i-sdhc.com which don't have a timebomb.

2nd, 3rd and 4th ones are DSTT clones

Your choice on which one to buy, I think i can recommend the original one or the one made by R4i-sdhc.com (i own one and it works nicely)

Oh, thanks for the correction. Thought that carts which have some year on them have timebomb.

The R4i SDHC 3DS RTS from www.r4i-sdhc.com also has a time bomb. R4i Gold 3DS RTS/Plus are the only R4 carts with no time bombs and it isn't crap like the rest.

I know of about 150 different brands with the name R4. Maybe 10 of them have a timebomb.

you do realize that the original R4 used the same website the current R4i SDHC 3DS RTS uses right....which means anything from them isn't a clone, I am talking about the Dual Core, Gold Pro, RTS Lite, R4 Advance, etc. Those are broken junk time bomb clones.

No. The website of the original R4 was www.r4ds.com / www.r4ds.me / www.r4ds.cn. The original R4 never supported SDHC.

hmm nevermind then...Even so I haven't encountered UP TO DATE R4 flashcarts that didn't have time bombs other than R4i Gold 3DS RTS/Plus.

There are r4isdhc.com.cn cards, r4isdhc.hk cards, r4idsn.com cards, r4itt.net cards and r4igold.cc cards. All of them don't have a timebomb as far as I know. There are probably more that I don't know.

All of those do actually, hence why people prefer using modded Wood R4 kernels on those because Wood R4 has no time bombs..

Actually I have already looked into the kernels of all the Wood R4 kernels we have at the moment. The R4 carts that are from r4isdhc.com are using a TTMENU/Wood mix, basically it is using Wood R4 but with TTMENU components (Official Wood does not use anything related to DSTT), the Official Wood R4 flashcarts are the ones from r4ids.cn, their Wood R4 is literally running off of the old but modified akmenu from Acekard RPG. I am basically saying WITHOUT Wood R4 most of the clones you mentioned would be garbage just like the R4i SDHC 3DS RTS or any others from that line of flashcarts.

Update:
I just downloaded all the latest kernels for the flashcarts from r4isdhc.com, they aren't using Wood R4 as an official kernel, they are using the crappy R4i kernel that the flashcarts from r4i-sdhc.com uses. Which means that the Wood kernels these carts can use are definitely not official, I already looked at the boot files for both the modded Wood R4 and Official Wood R4, both are vastly different. The modded one as I already mentioned above is using TTMENU components (because the R4i SDHC series is basically just a DSTT clone), which means the Wood R4 kernel they use was indeed modified. I also discovered a crap ton of unofficial Wood R4 kernels from a couple links specifically made just for R4 clones and some older/official flashcarts.

I used a hex editor to look at the file system, sure enough you find this right at the beginning: "SRAM_V110...PASS", this is only on the R4i kernels, which means yet again this was modified to be another Wood kernel, it isn't using anything official. This may not have a time bomb though since it does use Wood R4 in general, that doesn't make it official though.
