I burnt somthing on a verbatim DVD-R, which works Flawlessly. No disk read errors or anything, and it was with a crap A-Open burner that I got for like $100 a year ago from leading edge computers. DVD burners were alot more expensive back then... Yeah, and it was through a wireless network too, which I thought may make it a bit more dodgy, but I havnt had a problem with the burn since. That wouldn't have been the disc that wouldn't work in my Wii would it?
If so that is a good point to all those that think the answer is whatever works for them. My Wii console has had no problems playing discs of all sorts that I have burned including Verbatim -R discs with the same media ID that MADKATZ99 has used.
A disc he burned and tried on my Wii, it wouldn't even recognize the disc in the menu.
Likewise MADKATZ99's Wii has had trouble with a TDK disc that I have burned and used with no problems.
Different Wii drives will read discs differently too. It's going to take a little trial and error sometimes to get the best result.
At least it's nowhere near the trouble the GC had with backups.
From my personally experience, lite-on burners are not very good. While the burns work in DVD players and what not, they produce far too many errors, and thus are not good for things that have less tolerance for errors. Like a Wii(and especially the gamecube).
I would agree to an extent, but rather than saying they are not good, I would say that they are inconsistent and unreliable - I guess those qualities basically mean "not good" though, ha!
I had one that was perfect with Wii Discs, now it can't burn worth a damn, won't even complete burns. I've had other problems too. I think I'll be boycotting Lite-On soon, if this next drive craps out on me.
I'm at a point in my life where it's just not worth my time to deal with shit products.
