Hello everyone and happy new year !

I need some clarifications please about how to install the DevMenu.

Here is what I have :

1) I read a lot of tutos, so it seems we have to rename the "DevMenu.csu" from SDK-2.3.4 to DevMenu.3ds.

And I read that we also need a DevMenu.cia file. I saw there are several DevMenu.cia in the release of BBB, which one is the right one?

2) There's also something I didn't understand, well maybe because my English is not enough good.
From what I've read online, it seems we can't run the DevMenu with Emunand?
So does that mean we need to run it throught the Gateway classic mode?
I'm sorry I didn't understand what the Emunand problem refers to.

Can somebody help me to clarify this please?

Thank you !

I never bothered with DevMenu and installed BigBlueMenu instead. I put the BigBlueMenu rom on my Gateway card and the BigBlueMenu cia on my SD card. Used the rom to install the cia. Now I use the cia to install other cia's

Thanks for your answer.

So which one is better, DevMenu or BigBlueBox Menu? What's the difference between them two then?

bigbluebox seemed to just rename it and give it a new title id, give it a new banner, etc.
the real devmenu does not show up in devmenu - bigbluebox does because it does not appear as 'devmenu', so you can uninstall the cia nicely if you want.

Thank you guys ! Much appreciated !

Well how about the Emunand problem thing? My understanding is I must load the menu throught Gateway classic mode?

This is what Gateway said on their webste "we only recommend installing CIA to SD with emunand enabled"

I didn't really understand what they mean.

bigbigmenu is an updated devmenu
before we could only run 2.3.4, but theirs is 6.2.0

bigbluemenu is not an updated devmenu! - that sounds like bigbluemenu took devmenu and updated it.
devmenu is what got updated (by nintendo), bigbluemenu just put their name on it.

sure, bigbluemenu is devmenu 6.2.0 with some bigblue pictures :)

thats what I meant

we could not run anything higher before they released their modded devmenu
trying to install 6.2.0 devmenu from 2.3.4 wouldnt work

it's just a program, no need to format anything...
is there any reason you were wondering? :)

Ive tryed every friken thing I have found on the interwebs (by that I mean youtube as I am a noob) and I cant get the devmenu loading!!! It shows up on my Gateway but when I goto launch the damn this fails todo so! Please please help!!

Also have tryed many version of devmenu and bluebox yes i got it from giovanni's website! I wonder if my 3DS is bugged but Im probible doing something wrong

You must use these releases :

BigBlueMenu.3DS-BigBlueBox

Or

SDK.DevKit.Tools.3DSWare.3DS.INTERNAL-BigBlueBox

Just attempted the launch and it failed again! I used the one of the files you requested and it isnt launching

are you using the latest GW release? like, the latest launcher.dat? maybe for some reason you have not updated, since you don't care about eshop/have not updated your emunand etc etc, but GW only fairly recently let us use devmenu.
if you are on the latest launcher.dat... then i have no idea about your problem! :)

I think I used both but installing the SDK.DevKit.Tools.3DSWare.3DS.INTERNAL-BigBlueBox just incase (from a torrent)

In fact, me too I'm not sure how to run it, because I read on other websites that if you run it through Emunand you can encounter issues.

No I think it has no link with emunand, like cearp said, you should make sure you have the latest launcher.dat, at least the 2.6 release from Gateway website.

The BigBlueBoxMenu.3ds must be installed on the microsd card, whereas the BigBlueBoxMenu.cia must be copied to the big SD card.

Just go and download BigBlueMenu. Put the 3DS on your gateway SD card, and the cia on the internal memory card in your 3DS. Load the BigBlueMenu up with gateway as you would any other rom, and then locate the BigBlueMenu.cia on your SD card and install it. Done.
You don't need to do anything with the SDK at all, you're just making things complicated for yourself.

As for the second point that nobody has addressed for you thus far. Gateway is saying that they recommend it should only be installed to your emuNAND. Meaning don't install it to your sysNAND.
