Hi everyone,

Got a 5.1.0 Exfat 256Go (default cluster) formatted card and manage to use the menu with Fortnite donor id.
When in menu, it's seems that every time I push "install from sd", i can't see the "root" listing files.
I only got few seconds before my final chance to leave this screen before the console freeze entirely.

I wonder why...

I think it's because of all files present on my sd... (30 xci + retroarch + switch folder with eduke ...etc)
I grab a 64Go sd card and test it with a fresh format. And it's work OK !

So :
- Why devm* is looking for every single files in sd ?
- Maybe specific files ? extensions ?

Thanks a lot for more detailed explanations :)

PS: i'm on TX OS but even in Hekate, it's hangs.
PS2: I saw a thread with a specific command but it was just to fix booting the devm* for some cards.

It won't install because the console needs signature patches which at the moment only sxos 1.3 has. Hekate ND atmosphere does not. So you will not be able to install anything with dev menu

I had some problems with devmenu which were fixed after I deleted a bunch of files from the SD card, it seems to have some sort of timeout when reading for NSPs. I deleted all my roms and RPGMaker stuff and it worked fine after that. I also had a problem I think was attributed to the NSPs having filenames which were too large, sticking them in the root directory and limiting the size of the name to something that wasn't obnoxiously long helped.

edit: if none of those things work for you, you can try using a different doner for devmenu itself. I went through about 5 games until I found one which worked well (The Count Lucanor in xci format for me, as I didn't want to go online and try and get Pokemon Quest.)

Can you still install nsp's with SXOS 1.3 even if you have not got a licence? I was wandering this because if you can it was a huge mistake for TX to implement that for free.

I see thanks I have a pro so I wasn't sure. What stops it then from working you can access the main menu through a free SXOS?
The point of the free license is only for homebrew access everything else is not included into that license file. Once you pay then you get the features such as patching, layered FS, backup loading and more

I'm getting an error all the time trying to install nsp's came after midnight, it was perfectly fine just before. I think ninti has put a stop to it somehow in the servers.

Thank you that's a good explanation.

i don’t think the ops problem is about installing the files but simply having the option to do so before devmenu freezes on him

Wait, SX OS can now do title installs? (So they appear alongside legit games with their own icon, name etc?)
Yeah. However, it's not a native feature, as mentioned above. You need to have access to the Devmenu via LayeredFS, as it has a .nsp installer. The reason the .nsp installer only works on SX OS 1.3 is because SX OS 1.3 patches the anti-piracy signature checks the console performs. Hopefully, we'll see this feature be implemented in Hekate or Atmosphere soon, as the free version of SX OS doesn't patch the signatures.

Just a question. Can I install nsp using devmenu on hekate cfw? I know I will not be able to start installed games. But can I only install them to have an icon for the future when sigpatches are available? :)

I've heard that when you try installing .nsps through Hekate the install fails at 100%, unfortunately.

- I'm launching fine with Fortnite both TX OS and Hekate
- In menu I push A to enter "install from SD".
- system still react [1 to 10 seconds]
- then it freeze !

I don't have the energy to remove and transfer all over again :(
I think I'll wait for next FW of TXecuter (and because it was decrypted, I think they will release very soon !)

My question is still asked :
Still wondering several things :

- devmenu look for every single files in SD card or a folder specific ?
- Devmenu seems to analyse files (if it was just a listing of files, it will be quicker)
- it have a timeout (that's why it freeze) ? or it's a size file limit ?

It doesn't stick to root and traverses at an absolute minimum 2 folders, as that's what I had tested myself. Doesn't stick to specific folders, either, it seems to look through everything and that's why I think it failed for me.
I don't know that it analyses anything, this process is done or fails pretty quick from my experience.
It's honestly just a complete guess that it times out, I have no idea. I'm basing the guess off it failing for me and a number of other people when there were a lot of files present on our SD cards, only to succeed when we removed a bunch of excess files - namely roms (a lot of them.)

I will say I got a different error to you, it didn't hang for me and instead gave some error about not detecting an SD card. I can't remember the exact error though sorry. DevMenu seems really, really tempermental though, so singing gently to your switch might help.
Waiting for an NSP installer from TX seems like a pretty good decision to me at any rate.
