The company behind the Resident Evil films has bought the movie rights to Capcom's stylish action game Devil May Cry.

Screen Gems, a subsidiary of Sony Pictures Entertainment's Columbia TriStar Motion Picture Group, aims to kickstart a new genre franchise according to a Variety report.

Kyle Ward, one of the writers of the upcoming Kane & Lynch movie, has been hired to pen the script. It's all about Dante, thank goodness, who avenges his mother's murder by killing demons. Sounds about right.

In videogame land, Devil May Cry is undergoing a reboot at the hands of Enslaved developer Ninja Theory.

I guess I'm the devil because I may just cry. This is sickening. Devil May Cry used to be one of the most kick ass series out there. Then they put out DMC4 and we couldn't even play as fucking Dante. Then they're "rebooting" it with this really shitty prequel to a prequel (since DMC3 was a prequel to DMC). Seriously, they're smearing the good image of one of video gaming's greatest franchises and one of video gaming's best bad asses.

The anime wasn't bad, why can't they just do that for fuck's sake? Ugh, my rage level is rising.

Seriously. I understand that now videogames are a huge part of the economy but that's no reason to fuck them up. Videogames are videogames and they should stay videogames.

Videogames.

I'd watch it. I liked the Resident Evil film with Leon in it.

Though, they have to have Justin Cause doing the voice for Dante. And I'd prefer it if it was a younger Dante, like in the Anime. The anime wasn't half bad, it had the sarcastic dick that we've come to know and love.

Also, I liked DMC4. But so far no DMC game has been close to being as fun as DMC3 was.

Prepare to have a movie without Dante, or a castle.

The film will probably take place in New York City and have the main character trying to win a pottery contest. The only resemblance this movie will have is the name.

Why not DMC starring Trish and Lady....wait, that sounds like a Porno ">.>

I just saw no point for video gaming movies. Video games already present a story in a visual format, they're just interactive. Basically video game movies take away the interactive part of the video games and add shitty actors and shitty directors and shitty scripts... You know, they're just generally shitty.

As I said before, continue the anime or make a real Devil May Cry instead of that pussy d.m.c. shit. I don't care how well d.m.c. plays, Dante looks like an emo douche.

amirite?

But no, seriously. I have no hope for any video game movies.

I don't understand you fan boys, if a game-to-movie adaptation fails, how does it ruin the game?? Elaborate please.
