Hello everyone :yayswitch:

After some vacation, i want to share with you some good news - Dethrace, reverse-engineering of 1997 game "Carmageddon", now available on our beloved console!

Info about this port:

+ It's a fork of dethrace-labs' reverse-engineering work
+ As always, this uses DevkitPRO features, like (un)-docked mode (but resolution still the same, it's from engine)
- Sometimes, when CPU load > 90%, boost frequency enabled (I'm working on that issue) FIXED in OpenGL mode
- Sound can be popping on various effects

Version 1.1:

+ Added OpenGL mode for hardware rendering with higher resolution
+ Added config.txt, replacing commandline args (get it from docs/ on GitHub repo)

Github repo (checkout readme for instructions):

Download latest release:

Have a nice ride 🏎️

That’s awesome, thank you! I tried it last night, it actually runs pretty good. I have just one question: would it be possible to start the game with the -hires command? I think it should be possible with Dethrace port on windows, but I don’t know about switch.

iirc i used to use add this to the executable on the original Carmageddon to toggle the 640x480 resolution and make things a little less blurry.

Yeah, it's possible, and now, you can try it out :)
To perform this, checkout latest release, and make sure you're using OpenGL renderer

Wonder how the 3dfx version would run
Nothing much from software renderer, if you want, you can check latest release, there's some voodoo-related options

Not that it's a big deal but it crashes on exit, don't remember that happening before

Also after setting novoodoo to true it crashes a few seconds after starting a race

Just tried it and OpenGL mode works great!

Any chance if fixing novoodoo? It'd be great to have the fixes but with the original graphics
