Hy,
i did a RCM X86 install on a at first glance perfectly fine switch (successfuly made 20+ the last months), and messed up.
I checked the solder joints, checked for shorts, all good. A clean solder job in my opinion, so i am not sure whether i caused the fault or whether the fault was already present at the time of purchase.

When i start the switch, i have a black screen (not RCM).
When i start the switch without emmc, i can boot into rcm, but not WITH emmc.
When i am in rcm with hekate payload, all battery stats are at 0%, also the charging current shows 0% (battery is at ~4 Volts).

Did i blow up MT92... or PI3USB or something? There are no shorts, at least I have not measured any.

I would appreciate a little help, thank you!

The 3DS did terminate the boot sequence without a battery.
Probably Nintendo added the same logic to the Switch.
There are some posts here mentioning that a Switch won't run without a dead battery.

You could check the battery voltage itself.
It should have a positive voltage of about +2 volt, even when almost completely drained.
Most charging circuits have some protection when the voltage drops too low.
Then they won't even charge the battery anymore.
If you have a second Switch you could try that battery to see if the charging circuit is working correctly.
If the battery is ok, then it's most likely the charging circuit.

Thank you very much for the quick reply.
The battery voltage is at approx. 4V. I tried it with another fully charged battery, its the same error.

What could be the cause for the 0% in Hekate? I have attached a screenshot to illustrate what I mean.
The switch takes some minutes to load the "Battery Fuel Gauge Registers" Part, maybe its normal, i do not know.

Thx!

EDIT: i saw, that the tide symbol translates to - here. So, not -4V but appr. 4V

i thought everybody knew cocktails are like 75% ice
  • Veho @ Veho:
    Yeah but not like this.
  • Veho @ Veho:
It's not like they're complaining that their Slurpee is 99% ice or something, but if the cocktail calls for "shot of vodka, shot of vermouth, shot of gin, shot of Campari, three shots of juice, squirt of lemon" and ends up being a thimbleful of booze, that's a problem.
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
the funny thing is cocktails in norway are only allowed to have 1 20ml shot of booze
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
    so..... yeah
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
we're used to only having a thimbleful of booze

    Booo.

same thing if you want whisky on the rocks or something, you can't get a double
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
but you could buy as many shots of whisky (or anything else) as you want and ask for a glass of ice and pour them in
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
    it's dumb
  • Veho @ Veho:
    Maybe.
  • Veho @ Veho:
There was a comparison of the number of Ibuprofen poisonings before and after they limited the maximum dosage per box or per pill (i'll look that up). No limit on the number of boxes you can still buy as many as you want, so people argued it was pointless.
  • Veho @ Veho:
But the number of (accidental) poisonings dropped because drinking an entire package of ibuprofen pills went from "I need a new liver" to "I need a new box of Ibuprofen".
  • Veho @ Veho:
Here we have ketoprofen that used to be prescription-only because of the risk of toxic dosages, but then they halved the dose per pill and sell them in bottles of six pills apiece instead of twenty and it doesn't need a prescription any more. Yes you can buy more than one bottle but people simply don't.

Usually accidentally overdose of ibuprofen here is from people taking like cold medicine then ibuprofen for a headache and the combination is over what they need
