surely you would fail then kind sir.

i ask a lot of questions, because, unlike pimps like you,

i cant afford to spend oodles of cash on

these types of things and not be sure if its compatible.

===========================

and demon i checked my old r4 packaging

against the first link you supplied.

i can confirm, it matches it up with the 2 real pics.

and with the inner packaging, it was a white box with R4 printed on it in a big font.

going to put an order in for a cyclo

but the bank transfer to ozmodchips wont be seen until tuesday morning apparently.

+ about 3 days shipping..

i'll be either getting it this coming friday or NEXT monday..

until then i'll see what else i can find on the matter

I haven't experienced these problems myself with cross card connectivity but with my old R4 I noticed a few issues with the wifilib where Homebrew was concerened and occasionally crossed into 'retail' games as well but it was a rarity. I had issues connecting to my router though but perhaps the same cause is applicable. I don't know much abaout how a flash card connects to another DS but I would assume the same library is used. perhaps this could be the cause of the issues? Just an idea anyway.

*update*

tried wifi play

with mario kart

and tetris.

i cant seem to get online --> keeps giving me a "no AP in range" error

i dont think this is a cycloDS fault right?

i mean..im literally RIGHT NEXT to the router

Did you even set up the connections?

wtf.gif

im not a noob when it comes to flash cards. i've used r4 for for a while and m3simply for a while before that (the spring broke, that's why i switched to spring-less r4 v2.)

i tested the connection from within the wifi setup menu and its fine.

its just when i go to connect to wifi from WITHIN mario kart,

it says its not connecting--> no ap in range.

but then I go back to test in the nds wifi setup

and the tests are successful.

*just to clarify,

when i used to use r4, it would connect fine. the r4 and cyclo are using the same settings. router/nds settings.

the roms that were used on the r4

is the same

that are used on cyclods

and yes r4/m3 are the same.

what i mean is,

im not one of those people who just bought a flash card just yesterday.

sorry if you got the wrong impression

I play via net and browser the net with my Cyclo just fine. Maybe its your head getting in the way of the wireless signals. In any case, I was casually reading around Wikipedia and stumbled around a paragraph that kind of reminded me of this topic

Regional division

The Nintendo DS is region free in the sense that any console will run a Nintendo DS game purchased anywhere in the world; however, the Chinese version games can only be played on the Chinese iQue DS, whose larger firmware chip contains the required Chinese character glyph images. Although Nintendo DS of other regions cannot play the Chinese games, iQue DS can play games of other regions. Also, as with Game Boy games, some games that require both players to have a Nintendo DS game card for multiplayer play will not necessarily work together if the games are from different regions (e.g. a Japanese Nintendo DS game may not work with a North American Nintendo DS game, though some titles, such as Mario Kart DS, are mutually compatible). With the addition of the Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection, certain games can be played over the Internet with users of a different region game.
Maybe your Chinese whatever might be the problem. Though I'm way too tired to think properly

all bought in Hong Kong,

not china.
Now, this just made me think: WTF?!

Anyways as far as chinese R4s go, someone DID make a hacked version of the English firmware such that it would run on the chinese version of the cart. Apparently it's a fairly simple change, and IIRC there's a thread somewhere here (IIRC) with instructions wrt what to modify to get the english firmware to work on it or possibly even a program/script to do it for you. (It's been a while since I looked, but browse through older messages int he R4 forum or try a search, maybe even google it if you cannot find it here.)

Beyond that, all I can say is that the few people who've mentioned download play on the official forums seem to indicate that it works fine on the Evolution, although they didn't list many details also none of the reviews have mentioned any problems with that feature although again it's impossible to tell if they tested [playing with other carts or just another Evolution. I've no personal experience with download play as, shockingly enough, I know no one else who owns a DS.

the chinese firmware patched to english was downloaded from GBAtemps download section. not sure if that helps;
